The Grand Chemarin terroir, composed essentially of clay and limestone, brings tension, richness and elegance. In order to sublimate these qualities, the vinification is particularly careful. Maturing in oak barrels complexifies the aromatic bouquet and adds a beautiful roundness in the mouth.
First nose on ripe fruits (apricot, mirabelle plum) then come the notes of candied citrus (lemon). Beautiful unctuousness in the mouth supported by a well-placed tension.
Located in Bué, in the Loire Valley, the Thierry Merlin-Cherrier Domain was created in the early 80s. Thierry Merlin is the fourth generation of winegrowers and his estate is a family business. The 14 hectares of vines are planted on the communes of Sancerre and Bué. The main grape variety is Sauvignon Blanc, with a few Pinot Noir plants.
Based on the principle that for a good wine, you need beautiful grapes, the Domaine Thierry Merlin-Cherrier practises reasoned pest management: light Guyot pruning with removal of unnecessary branches and grapes, reintroduction of auxiliary fauna, such as ladybirds. Domaine Merlin-Cherrier has been rewarded with numerous medals, a "coup de coeur" from the Guide Hachette, but above all by the loyalty of its customers. The Sancerre has also been awarded the silver medal at the Loire Wine Competition.

Mittleres Granatrot. 92/100 - Review by Adrian van Velsen
