Bettane & Desseauve: "An estate that cannot be ignored in Meursault"
"A terroir genius", such is the definition of Rémi Jobard. The Meursault villages and the Meursault Grands Crus created by him are unanimously applauded by Burgundy lovers. Already in the 16th century, written traces of the Jobard family's winemaking activities can be found. In 1991, Rémi took the reins of the family estate, renaming it Domaine Rémi Jobard. Convinced that a revolution had to be accomplished in order to reach heights that had not yet been reached, he drastically reduced yields and began organic farming in 1994, eliminating fertilizers and weed killers little by little, until he switched to organic in 2005. Finally, the Domaine was certified organic in 2008 and eco-certified in biodynamics in 2011.
Respect for the terroir being his priority, he also favours faithful and professional human relations, keeping the same team year after year to be sure of the perfect quality of the sorted grapes. Harvesting is done by hand.
Stretching over 9 hectares of vines, the white grape variety is 97% Chardonnay, with a few Aligoté plants and 100% Pinot Noir for the red. The wine is aged for 12 months in 25% new barrels (from the Austrian brand Stockinger which - according to Rémi Jobard - enhances the natural aromas). Very creative, he sometimes tries to age the Meursault in demi-muids in order to reduce the oak aromas.
The Domaine Rémi Jobard offers among others three Meursaults :
The " Sous la Velle ", grown on gravel and fairly dry soil, has a pleasant nose of peach and soft pear. After aeration, the minerality is released, accompanied by sweet spices. In the mouth, hawthorn and stone are present and the finesse characterizes it.
"Les Narvaux", which has a pale gold colour, is fruitier, with aromas of roasted citrus fruits. They are more lively and surprisingly fresh. The minerality finally arrives, in the finish, and remains for a long time in the mouth.
"Les Genevrières", Meursault 1er cru, are unctuous and racy with a certain restraint at first glance. Their robe is bright, clear yellow. The mouth is enveloping, oscillating between juicy pear and mineral stone. Aromas of hawthorn are also present.
Rémi Jobard's Meursault wines are elegant and sincere, the fruit of his creative research and his commitment to the land and nature. They represent the finesse, smoothness and depth of Burgundy Meursaults, with that touch of acidity and great minerality found in great white wines.
Accompanying a fine fish or poultry with morel mushrooms, they will develop all their art.
"As a fine winemaker, Rémi Jobard makes smooth and supple Meursault wines that can be aged with breed. The generic and village appellation wines are just as recommendable as the crus. These are wines that truly express themselves only with time, without ever being overwhelming. The wines: the estate cultivates a personal style outside the fashions, with full, rich, but never heavy wines, which need time to reveal themselves fully. BOURGOGNE CÔTE D'OR "VIEILLES VIGNES" WEISS - 2022Rating
Rating - Review by Yves Beck

BOURGOGNE CÔTE D'OR "VIEILLES VIGNES" BLANC - 2022Rating
BOURGOGNE CÔTE D'OR "VIEILLES VIGNES" WEISS - 2020Rating
