Situated in the commune of Bégadan, Château Lassus at the time comprised two parcels in one and was passed down in the family. In 1983, a new owner shared the two plots and built new cellars and a building, which he called Château LE REYSSE, separating this new estate from the cooperation. In 2010, Stefan Paeffgen, an agronomist from Cologne, and his wife Heike bought the two estates, adding the Clos du Moulin. Since then, the Paeffgen family has only confirmed the quality of its wines. Concerning Château LE REYSSE alone, its annual production is today between 20,000 and 28,000 bottles on a 4.5 hectare estate. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety accounts for 60 to 70% of the production, the rest being Merlot, making it a typically Medoc wine. Of great complexity, the wine of Château LE REYSSE follows the paths and ancestral know-how of the region: old vines over 50 years old, a great deal of rigour in the selection, long months of ageing in oak barrels.
Among the rows of vines, a natural vegetation allows the development of a preserved fauna and flora. Orchids of a wide variety of species growing between the vines, numerous amphibians (tree frogs, land salamanders and even turtles!), as well as storks, owls and birds of prey thrive in the greatest respect for Nature. Since November 2013, the LE REYSSE vineyard is AREA Certified (environmental certification).
The soils are made up of Gironde gravel and limestone plateaus. The climate is specific to the region, not far from the Gironde estuary, and thanks to the demarcation of the pine forest, the direct effects of the Atlantic are attenuated. The sum of all these factors makes them grapes destined to produce great wines.
The robe of these wines is a brilliant garnet. Its perfumes are fruity and spicy and its bouquet of toast, roast and blackberries declares all its power. Its tannins are silky and the finish is full, round and fat. In short, this is a distinguished Médoc with great ageing potential.

2016, Château Le Reysse, Médoc, Bordeaux, Frankreich (70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, nur 33 HL/Hektar Ertrag, 100% neue Barriques). Kräftigs Rubin, violete Reflexe. Intensive Nase, dunkelfruchtig, noch vom Toasting des Holzes geprägt, viel Rauch, dazu Nelken, deutlich Brombeeren, schwarze Kirschen, Creme de Cassis, darüber Eukalyptus, schwarze Schokolade, sehr komplex. Der Gaumen ist vollmundig und zeigt viel Druck, das ist schon fast „zwei Mund voll Wein“, ungemein konzentriert, die reife Frucht, wird von markanten, fein gewobenen Gerbstoffen und einer top Säurestruktur getragen, enorm opulent, dabei aber nicht behäbig, sondern sehr präzis und mit sehr guter Ausgewogenheit. Welch ein Wein... unbedingt verkosten und geniessen !
Rubinrot mit Violettschimmer. Komplexes Bouquet, würzig und fruchtig mit Düften von Zimt, Gewürznelken und schwarzen Früchten wie Cassis, Pflaumen und Brombeeren. Eleganter Gaumen, mit einem seidigen und etwas charmanten Auftakt. Das Tannin ist feinkörnig und kommt langsam zur Geltung. Langer Nachklang. Ein versprechungsvoller Wein, der uns daran erinnert wie gross 2014 im Médoc ist. Bravo. 2019–2034 92/100

2014, Château le Reysse, Médoc (65% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 35% Merlot). Dunkles Rubin, sehr dicht und mit hoher Viskosität. Tiefe, intensiv duftende Nase, noch etwas vom Holz geprägt doch mit sehr guter, aromatischer Komplexität: viele dunkle Beeren, eingelegte Kirschen, Pflaumen, Schokolade, Gewürze, Tabak und Zedernholz. Im Auftakt kraftvoll und sehr vollmundig, das ist wahrlich ein Mund voll Wein, enorm viel dunkle Beerenfrucht eingepackt in ein Korsett aus feinsten Gerbstoffen und einer perfekt integrierten Säure, der Wein ist strukturiert, mächtig, sehr konzentriert doch nicht schwerfällig, viele würzige Elemente schwingen mit. Im Abgang ausgesprochen langanhaltend. Sehr eindrücklich und mit vielen Reserven, Kompliment! Jetzt bis 2034 geniessen, 18.5 vvPunkte (92/100). Farbe: sattes, dunkles, kräftiges Rot. Nicht durchsichtig.
Deutlich sichtbare Fenster zeigen den Alkoholgehalt von 14%.
Bouquet: Feines verhaltenes Bouquet. Duftet nach reifen Beeren, aber nicht übertönend. Eher fein.
Geschmack/Körper: Gut strukturiert, noch gut spürbare Tanine. Warm. Mittellang im Abgang. Noch gut spürbare Säure. Wein verträgt sicher noch 4- 6 Jahre Lagerung.
Gesamtbeurteilung: Guter Wein mit einem guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Bouquet und Geschmack nicht ausgeprägt Bordeaux typisch, aber gut. - Review by theurmaar

Un vin à découvrir absolument. Quelle richesse !
Rouge rubis aux reflets violets. Bouquet complexe révélant des notes fruitées et épicées. L’élevage se révèle avec finesse. Notes de cannelle et de clou de girofle, fruits noirs tels que cassis, pruneaux et mûres. En bouche l’attaque confirme les caractéristiques olfactivesavec une attaque élégante, soyeuse et légèrement suave. Les tannins se révèlent lentement et sont de type granuleux. Finale fruitée et persistante. Un vin très prometteur qui confirme ses excellentes prédispositions. Bravo. 2019–2034 92/100
