Château Nairac: Inseparable from a Culture

Château Nairac, a prestigious Second Growth of 1855 in the Barsac appellation, perfectly embodies the soul of the great sweet wines of Bordeaux. Its motto, “Inseparable from a culture”, reflects a deep philosophy: an intimate connection between terroir, history, and the French art of living.

Nairac is now recognized as an essential reference for Barsac lovers seeking an elegant, refined wine with a perfect balance between richness and freshness.

A rich history since the 18th century

The name Château Nairac emerged in the 18th century thanks to Elysée Nairac, a visionary Bordeaux wine merchant who gave the estate its true identity. He commissioned architect Jean Mollié, a student of Victor Louis (architect of the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux), to design the château and its gardens.

From that time onward, Nairac focused on producing exceptional sweet wines. This excellence was officially recognized in 1855 when it was classified as a Second Growth.

Since 1972, the estate has been managed by Nicole Tari-Heeter and her family, who are dedicated to restoring and enhancing this unique heritage while preserving its historical identity.

An exceptional terroir in Barsac

Located on one of the finest terroirs in Barsac, Château Nairac benefits from its immediate proximity to the Garonne River, which encourages the formation of morning mists essential for the development of Botrytis cinerea (noble rot).

This natural phenomenon concentrates sugars and aromas, giving Nairac wines their signature notes of honey, candied fruits, and citrus.

  • Clay-limestone soils and siliceous gravel
  • 17 hectares of vineyards
  • 95% Sémillon, 5% Sauvignon
  • Two complementary terroirs: mineral freshness and aromatic richness

Sustainable viticulture and renewal

Château Nairac is currently transitioning to organic farming. Vineyard management has been entrusted to SCEA Terres Bordelaises, supported by the Helfrich family, renowned specialists in Sauternes wines.

This new direction ensures the future of Nairac, combining tradition, innovation, and respect for biodiversity.

Vinification and aging of Nairac

Harvesting at Château Nairac is carried out manually through several selective passes to ensure only perfectly botrytized grapes are picked.

  • Precise parcel-by-parcel pressing
  • Fermentation in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels
  • Aging for 12 to 18 months
  • 30% new oak

This expertise produces a Nairac Barsac of great complexity and remarkable aging potential.

Tasting Château Nairac

Nairac stands out with its bright golden color. On the nose, it reveals a rich aromatic palette of candied fruits, apricot, honey, citrus, white flowers, and delicate spices.

On the palate, the attack is fresh, followed by a silky texture perfectly balanced by lively acidity. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent.

Food & wine pairings

The Château Nairac Barsac pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes:

  • Foie gras and fine terrines
  • Blue cheeses (Roquefort, Stilton)
  • Asian cuisine and spicy dishes
  • Fruit-based desserts and citrus creations

Why invest in Nairac?

Château Nairac offers excellent value for money among the great sweet wines of Bordeaux. Its aging potential (10 to 30 years) makes it an ideal choice for collectors and discerning wine lovers.

Château Nairac Barsac is more than just a wine: it is an experience, a tradition, and a symbol of Bordeaux expertise. Elegant, complex, and timeless, it stands as a true benchmark.
