The place - Yvorne and the Chablais - is beautiful. On a passage along the Rhone, the immaculate building and the elegant keep of the Château Maison Blanche in the middle of the green vineyards represents a luminous watercolour.
In 1573, Sieur Antoine d'Erlach built his residence next to the village Yvorne. Alas, ten years later, the property, as well as part of the village, was destroyed, swept away by a landslide of unheard-of violence, displacing entire sections of the mountain. In 1609, the White House, as it was already called, was rebuilt. After changing owners several times, a dungeon and a small bell tower were added, giving it the more respectable name of Château Maison Blanche. In 1930, two families from Rolle, the Schenk and Rosset families became owners. Unfortunately, a new accident occurred in 1974 and the roof burned. Rebuilt since then, Château Maison Blanche is a building that is the pride of the people of Yvorne and represents history, wine culture and quality. Since 1987, a renowned winemaker, Jean-Daniel Suardet, has been in charge of the vineyard, in association with the oenologist Thierry Ciampi.
The 7.5 hectares of steeply sloping land are of course essentially Chasselas and Savagnin Blanc, 15% being dedicated to red wines: Pinot Noir, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Diolinoir, Gamaret and Garanoir. The scree of 1584 totally upset the layers forming the terroir. The soils are now made up of pebbles mixed with sediment-rich alluvium. This richness in limestone allows the vintages of Château Maison Blanche to stand out by a characteristic when tasting.
A very demanding selection, goblet pruning, low yields for good concentration and manual harvesting have enabled the Château to become a member of the Association vaudoise Clos, Domaines et Châteaux, whose distinctive red and silver banner recognises the impeccable quality of its members.
The wine Château Maison Blanche Grand Cru Yvorne Chablais AOC Yvorne Chablais is pure Chasselas whose mineral notes jump to the palate, followed by those of lime blossom and especially flint, typical of the terroir resulting from the landslide. The robe is golden yellow. As it ages, touches of honey, peach and quince are added. Its fatness and power make it an admirable, complex wine, which will be perfect with fine fish or a cheese platter. Served chilled, it will also be ideal as an aperitif.
This wine has won numerous awards in recent years, including the gold medal at the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse 2017 for the 2016 vintage.

2014 war insgesamt ein kühleres Jahr als 2013. Das bekommt, diesem feingliedrigen, sehr gut strukturierten Yvorne hervorragend. Der Wein wirkt noch etwas unruhig und 6 - 12 Monate Lagerung werden ihm sicher gut tun. Trotzdem wiederum absolut Grand Cru würdig und sehr empfehlenswert.Rating - Review by Josef
