Situated in the privileged core of the best terroir of the Margaux appellation, Château des Eyrins shares its location with such luminaries as Châteaux Margaux and Lascombes. Its plot, although modest with its almost 3 hectares, therefore benefits from an exceptional location.
This is probably what led Eric Grangerou to leave the vines of Château Margaux - his ancestors had been cellar masters there for three generations - in order to create his own estate in the 1980s. In 2001, he was joined by Olivier Dauga for the vinification. In 2009, the property was sold to the Gonet-Médeville family. The young and dynamic couple formed by Xavier (Champagne) and Julie (Châteaux Gilette, les Justice and respide-Médeville) will be keen to continue the work of Eric Grangerou - always with the precious advice of Olivier Dauga - in order to bring Château des Eyrins into the courtyard of the greats that it is close to.
Grown on deep gravelly soil, the vines have an average age of 40 years and are divided between three grape varieties: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, a little less than 30% Merlot, the rest Petit Verdot. The work is carried out in good harmony, the grapes are harvested by hand and the yield is respectful of nature. Vatting lasts 21 days in stainless steel vats and maturing for 18 months in new vats and barrels.
Each vintage is better than the previous one, more and more refined, intense and deep. It requires a few years of cellaring in order to reach its balance and reveal all the finesse of its exceptional terroir. When it finally reaches maturity, it has a fruity nose, excellent woodiness and a beautiful structure. A real revelation in recent years, Château des Eyrins allows you to leave the marked out paths by tasting a Bordeaux whose refinement and elegance is worthy of the classified growths of the Margaux appellation, at prices without comparison.

Pas encore dégusté ce vin. j'en avais en cave de 2009 qui était excellent. L'année 2016 étant excellente, je ne serai pas déçu. Eyrins est un vin en plein essor et je n'ai aucune peine à l'acheter les yeux fermés.Rating - Review by Adrian vvWine.ch

2016, Château des Eyrins, Margaux. Kräftiges Rubin. Die Nase ist komplex, sehr feinduftig, sehr Margaux: Herrlich floral mit einem zarten Veilchenduft, dazu würzige Noten, dunkle Cassis- und Brombeerfrucht, mit mehr Luft Mokka, Lakritze, darüber kühler Rauch… tiefgründig und vielschichtig. Im Gaumen schlank und gradlinig, die delikate Frucht scheint auf der Zunge zu schmelzen, feinstes Tannin und eine top Säure verleihen Struktur, ungemein knackig, saftig und frisch tänzelt der Wein im Gaumen, zeigt dabei viel Eleganz und Harmonie, alles ist an seinem Platz, nichts überwiegt. Im Abgang von guter Länge, endet rotfruchtig auf Johannisbeeren und Sauerkirschen. Sündhaft schön und wunderbar zahlbar. Der 2016er Château des Eyrins hat eine tolle Farbe und ein schönes Bouquet nach dunklen Beeren, Brombeere, Casis als auch würzige Noten. Am Gaumen ist der Wein noch sehr lebhaft mit ausgewogener Säure und Tanninen. Ein insgesamt gelungener Wein zu einem sehr guten P/L-Verhältnis insbesondere wenn man bedenkt, dass es sich um einen Margaux handelt.Rating - Review by Julien

Le cru 2011 fut une magnifique découverte autant par sa structure que ses tanins. Le 2016, compte tenu du climat et de la maturité des raisins s'annonce sensationnel. Un peu de patience sera néanmoins de mise. - Review by Yves

Cette propriété de 8ha appartient à la famille Médeville-Gonet (Propriétaire également de Château Gilette à Sauternes et Champagne Gonet). Bertrand Dugoua gère le domaine et officie autant à la vigne qu'en vinification. Les fermentations malolactiques se déroulent en barriques, élevage dans 100% de barriques neuves. Les vins restent sur lie jusqu'au mois de février. Bouquet frais et fruité avec des notes de baies rouges et une touche de fraîcheur. Attaque friande et fruitée. Le vin est fin, équilibré, juteux et doté de tannins précis, parfaitement intégrés qui assurent bien la tenue de l'ensemble du palais. Belle expression aromatique en fin de bouche. Un vin tout en finesse, qui a de quoi passer quelques temps en cave mais il risque d'être bu avant ! 2023-2033 90-92/100

Bertrand Dugoua verwaltet das Weingut und ist sowohl im Weinberg als auch in der Weinherstellung tätig. Die malolaktische Gärung findet in Fässern statt. Ausbau in 100% neuen Fässern. Die Weine bleiben bis Februar auf Hefe. Frisches und fruchtiges Bouquet mit Noten von roten Beeren und einem Hauch von Frische. Feiner und fruchtiger Auftakt. Der Wein ist fein, ausgewogen, saftig und hat präzise Tannine, die perfekt integriert sind und dafür sorgen, dass der gesamte Gaumen gute unterstützt ist. Schöner aromatischer Ausdruck am Ende des Gaumens. Ein sehr feiner Wein, der genug Substanz hat, um einige Zeit im Keller zu verbringen, aber er wird eh vorher getrunken werden! 2023-2033 90-92/100
