At the foot of the Cadière d'Azur, between Marseille and Toulon, is the Château Salettes. The vines are planted in terraces, in the sun and in the middle of hundred-year-old olive trees, oak trees and Mediterranean pines. The place is as if suspended out of time. The same family has been producing wine here for 18 generations! It all began in 1604, when the Ricard de la Gaillardière family decided to settle facing the sea, in the middle of olive groves. The place is called Les Salettes, because salt was stored there in the Middle Ages. The first pioneers planted vines by pickaxe and then by mine in order to build these flat stone slopes called "Lecques", typical of the Mediterranean soil. After being hit by phylloxera in the 19th century, the Bandol region managed to save its vines and in 1941, the Bandol AOC was created. In 1965, Jean-Pierre Boyer, Léon Ricard's son-in-law, took over the estate, joined by his son, Nicolas, in 2002. Unfortunately the latter will die in 2011, leaving his father to pursue the adventure alone. Today, his father has hired a new director, Alexandre Le Corguillé, oenologist and engineer. During the last forty years, Jean-Pierre and Nicolas Boyer have managed to replant vines on unexploited restanques and have built a new winery. Jean-Pierre Boyer, after having been President of Bandol Wines and Independent Winegrowers of the PACA region, is also Grand Master of the Order of the Knights of the Medusa.

The vines of Château Salettes today make up about forty hectares, all cultivated on a stony soil made of limestone, clay and crushed rock. In the middle of garrigue, pine forests and olive trees, the microclimate prevents frost and favours ideal ripening.

Organic certification was issued in 2018 and biodynamic principles are applied in pruning and vineyard work. Of course no pesticides or insecticides are used and the harvest is done by hand.

Château Salettes produces a rosé composed of 40% Mourvèdre, 40% Cinsault and the rest Grenache. Aged for 6 months in stainless steel vats, the rosé Les Salettes is particularly clear, light and pleasant in hot weather. Serve chilled as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to spicy or spicy Provençal dishes.

The two wines, red and rosé were awarded two silver medals at the "Decanter World Awards 2019".

Maintenant - 2024. 90/100

Exzellenter Rosé. Für einen Rosé füllig und langanhaltend. Gute Mineralität. Ausgezeichneter Essensbegleiter, v.a. zu mediterranem Fisch. Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

2016, Bandol Rosé, Château Salettes, Bandol, Frankreich (30% Mourvèdre, 35% Cinsault, 30% Grenache, 5% Syrah). Lachsrosa, Kupferreflexe. 17.5 vvPunkte (89/100).
