A rosé at Chanel... In October 2019, the House of Chanel, already owner of the Châteaux Canon, Rauzan-Ségla and Berliquet becomes owner of the Domaine de l'Ile in Porquerolles. The 34 hectares of vines are planted in a small island paradise, out of sight, opposite the town of Hyères. The wind and the sun bring their benefits to the Mediterranean vineyard, with scents of pine forest and eucalyptus.

Offered in 1911 by François-Joseph Fournier to his young wife, with whom he was very much in love, the Island of Porquerolles was then destined for vineyards and agriculture, after the terrible fire that had ravaged it a few years earlier. The Domaine de l'Ile was born. The coupla will have 6 children, but it will be the 4 girls who will share the agricultural plains in 1957. One of the three will succeed in keeping her plot in the family, while the others will sell it to the State. Her son, Sébastien Le Ber, inherited the Domaine de l'Ile and developed the vineyard further. Now it is the turn of Nicolas Audebert, an agricultural engineer and oenologist, to take the reins of the Domaine's production. Very schistose, the soil is covered with clay and the nights are cool, soaking up the morning dew. Rich in manganese, iodine, iron and magnesia, the earth brings these nutrients to the vines. The grape varieties are local: Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Syrah, Tibouren and Rolle (only for the whites).

Since 2015, thanks to Sébastien Le Ber, the Domaine de l'Ile has been certified in organic agriculture.

The rosé of Provence represents 80% of the production. Nicolas Audebert is keen to refine them to make gastronomic rosé wines.

The robe is a very pale pink, tending towards a light green, with brilliant golden reflections. The nose offers a beautiful palette of citrus fruits, lemon zest, pear and a touch of wild strawberry. On the palate, the attack is frank, with a small iodized and salty taste, peach and grapefruit aromas, with a slightly peppery finish. As a food and wine pairing, Domaine de l'Ile rosé will go perfectly with a warm goat's cheese salad, lemon white fish or grilled lobster. It represents the light and the island breeze, with its lively, subtle and airy side.
