Taken over by Anne and Christian Sutra de Germa - Gil in 2000, in order to continue the family adventure started in 1900 by the great-grandfather, the Domaine de Monplézy (Mon Plaisir in patois) was created in 1734. Biodiversity within the estate is preserved thanks to the Natura 2000 zone and the League for the Protection of Birds to which Anne belongs. The emblem bird of the Monplézy house is the Madagascar hoopoe drawn on the labels. The couple's two children, Benoît (who worked in wine estates in California and Argentina) and Margot, have joined their parents in the family business.
Set on one of the hills near Pézenas, Domaine de Monplézy thus inherits the Pézenas-Languedoc appellation. The soils are clay-limestone and date back to the period when the hill was an island in the Mediterranean, 16 million years ago. The roots of the Syrah and Carignan vines are infused with spices, pepper, bay leaves and figs. All year round, the vines are swept by the Mistral and Tramontane, bringing freshness under the Mediterranean sun and the smell of garrigue.
The 25 hectares of vineyards are certified ECOCERT in biodynamic agriculture. The grapes are harvested manually in 10kg crates. The grape varieties are 95% Syrah and 5% Carignan. Maceration is traditional for the Syrah and hot, on whole grapes for the Carignan. The wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels.
The Emociòn cuvée lives up to its name. It brings a lot of emotions when tasting it, as noted by the Hachette Wine Guide, which gives it 2 stars. Its colour is black, due to the Syrah and its purplish tints. The nose explodes with ripe fruit and the garrigue is not far away. On the palate, the balance is well present, the roundness is also candied and the tannins are silky. Notes of prunes and dark chocolate appear on the finish.
Enjoy with roast beef, leg of wild boar or a black forest for dessert. Drink immediately and up to 12 years of cellaring.

Jetzt bis 2033+, 91 vvPunkteRating - Review by Benoit
