Situated in the Maremma, in Tuscany between the Tyrrhenian coast and the hills of Bolgheri, the Tenuta San Guido and its little jewels that are the Sassicaia, the Guidalberto and the Difese are due to the visionary dream and perseverance of one man, the Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta. The new implantation in Italy of a grape variety from Bordeaux that flourishes wonderfully on an extraordinary terroir has allowed the creation of the now famous "Super Tuscans". His son, Nicolo della Rocchetta, has been running Tenuta San Guido for forty years.
The vineyard of the Tenuta San Guido extends over 90 hectares, some parts on the hill, at an altitude of 300m. Taking advantage of the microclimate, which brings cool sea air in summer and mild weather in winter, the area has been home to a natural bird reserve created by the Marquis della Rocchetta since the 1950s. Originally, the infrastructure was installed in the Castiglioncello of Bolgheri. But with the acquisition of new land, a new building was constructed in the sixties in the Alley of Cypress, near the Chapel of Saint Guido, hence the name of the Tenuta.
The Difese: Made from a blend of Bordeaux and Tuscan grape varieties (70% Cabernet and 30% Sangiovese), the Difese was presented for the first time in 2003. Fermentation takes place in thermo-controlled stainless steel vats for twelve days. Afterwards, the wine is aged for twelve months in American and French oak barrels. Very pleasant, the Difese immediately distinguished itself by its suppleness, balance and ability to be drunk quickly.

Ce Pommard se révèle en crescendo. Plutôt discret au début, il se veut subtil et expressif au travers de nuances épicées et fruitées. En bouche le vin est pertinent, précis et idéalement soutenu par des tannins soyeux mais puissants. Ils assurent idéalement les arrières tandis que la structure acide souligne l'intensité aromatique. Dieser Pommard offenbart sich crescendoartig. Zuerst eher diskret, wird er subtil und ausdrucksstark durch würzige und fruchtige Nuancen. Am Gaumen ist der Wein präzise und wird ideal von seidigen, aber kräftigen Tanninen unterstützt. Sie bilden ein ideales Fundament während die Säurestruktur die Gaumenaromatik unterstreicht. Im Gaumen zugänglich und fruchtbetont, leichter Körper, mässig ausgeprägte Gerbstoffe, die Säure ist stimmig, die Frucht deutlich rotbeerig, endet erstaunlich lang auf reife Himbeeren.
