Alsace wines have been linked to the Dopff family since the 17th century, eleven generations following one another with enthusiasm and passion for their terroir. Located in Riquewihr, a charming little medieval village, the estate Dopff au Moulin, with its 70 hectares, is today the largest of the Alsace Grands Crus region. Along the splendid "Wine Route", Riquewihr is certainly a stopover symbolizing the quality and the typical high standards of Alsace wines. At a height of 300 m, the village and its hills overhanging it, those of the Schönenburg (which means "Beautiful Coast") face south, sheltered from cold winds and rain, thus benefiting from a microclimate. The landscape is also beautiful when, at the end of winter, almond trees blossom in the middle of the vineyards.
The history of the Dopff family begins at the end of the 17th century, when Balthazar-Georges, the first generation to be born in Riquewihr, became a master cooper. In 1900, Julien Dopff, his descendant, had a brilliant idea. Inspired by a visit to the Universal Exhibition, he imagined putting the wines in a fluted bottle and then marketing it. Today, three generations run the company: Pierre, his son, Pierre-Etienne and Etienne-Arnaud since 1998.
The wines of the house of Dopff au Moulin are renowned for the high standards that go hand in hand with quality. It should be added that since 1574, a decree has required the winegrowers of the Riquewihr region to plant noble grape varieties. The perfectionism and ethics of the Dopff family, proud of their profession as winegrowers, have been passed down through the generations, hence the control of each parcel of land cultivated, and then of each wine made by them.
The robe is golden, the nose is intense, reminiscent of pineapple. In the mouth, the attack is fat, racy and balanced. Candied citrus dominates, with a peppery touch. Dry but subtly sweet, this Riesling will be perfect as an aperitif, but above all as an accompaniment to lobster, crayfish or delicately prepared fish.
It can be kept for a long time, up to 10 years.

2015, Riesling Schoenenbourg Grand Cru, Dopff au MoulinRating
Komplexe Nase, tiefgründig, reiffruchtig, sehr Alsace, zeigt Terroir, exotische Aromen.

2015-2024, 18 vvPunkte, (90/100)Rating - Review by Yarivyo wine score

2018-2028, 18 vvPunkte, (90/100)Rating - Review by Yves Beck

92/100 - Review by Yves Beck

Jahrgang 2007Rating
