The House of Champagne Laurent Perrier, located in Tours-sur-Marne, Champagne, has been owned by the de Nonancourt family since 1939. Before that, it all began in 1812, when André Michel Pierlot, a cooper and bottler, decided to settle in Champagne in order to trade. His son, who had no descendants, appointed his cellar master, Eugène Laurent, as his successor in 1881. The latter made his land prosper by acquiring new terroirs in Ambonnay, Bouzy and Tours-sur-Marne and by building buildings and cellars 800 metres long. On his death, his wife renamed the estate Veuve Laurent-Perrier. Her daughter sold the estate in 1939 to Marie-Louise de Nonancourt, mother of the famous Bernard. At the same time, the latter and his brother joined the Resistance, alongside Abbé Pierre. At the end of the war, Bernard returned alone and took over the reins of the estate, which he managed with a masterful hand. His mother first required him to go through all the stages of the winegrowing profession, from the vineyard to the cellar. In 1948, he was appointed Chairman and CEO. At the age of 28, he was in charge of twenty employees and sold 80,000 bottles. 40 years later, Bernard de Nonancourt has made Veuve Laurent-Perrier an empire, appreciated and tasted in 160 countries.
This parcel-based vinification and personalised blending will be the signature of the House.Chardonnay is the grape variety of Champagne Veuve Laurent-Perrier par excellence, and in particular that of "la Cuvée". It brings freshness, finesse and purity.
The Laurent-Perrier House is particularly responsible and committed to the transition towards 100% of its land being certified as High Environmental Value (HVE). Firstly, by preserving the terroirs and enhancing their heritage, and by managing effluents and waste, and finally by reducing the carbon footprint. The estate favours low water, gas and electricity consumption.
Among the different wines of the Laurent-Perrier House, there is "La Cuvée", particularly appreciated during big events, for the aperitif of your receptions. The proportion of Chardonnay is in the majority (53%) and only the best musts of the cuvée are kept (80% of the juice extracted during the pressing will be used). The rest is 33% Pinot Noir and 14% Pinot Meunier. 25% reserve wines from previous harvests make up this cuvée in order to maintain consistency in the quality and style of the House.
The colour of "La Cuvée" is very pale, a bright, light gold, almost transparent, with very fine bubbles. On the nose, delicate notes of white flowers and citrus fruits appear at first, followed by sweeter notes of white-fleshed fruits. On the palate, it is very well balanced, between a dominant freshness and a discreet complexity. The finish is fruity and remarkable. The long months of cellaring ensure this balance and elegance every time.
