The Tenuta Campo di Sasso - a small estate belonging to the same owners as the Tenuta di Biserno, produces the cuvée Insoglio del Cinghiale. Located a few kilometres from the town of Bibona, Tenuta Campo di Sasso is adjacent to Biserno, on the western coast of Tuscany. Initially, it is a new project bringing together the former enemy cousins of Tuscany, finally reconciled! In fact, Lodovico Antinori, founder of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, created with his cousin Piero Antinori (Tignanello) a beautiful 90-hectare estate in western Tuscany, in the coastal region of Maremma, on the borders of the Bolgheri appellation which was the cradle of Ornellaia and Masseto. Since 2002, the Bordeaux oenologist Michel Roland, assisted by Helena Lindberg, has been in charge of the vinification of Insoglio, a truly exceptional wine. The first vintages immediately convinced the critics. Made up of 46 hectares, the Tenuta Camo du Sasso's soil differs from that of its neighbour, Biserno. Indeed, they are essentially sandy, allowing excellent drainage and contain little clay.
The Insoglio del Cinghiale wine is composed of 32% Syrah, 31% Cabernet Franc, 32% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The high proportion of Cabernet-Franc - closely rivaling the Syrah - is a bold gamble that seems perfectly suited to the region's terroir. The entire harvest is manual with a sorting table designed to eliminate unripe grapes. 40% of the wine is aged in oak barrels for 6 months, then 3 months in bottles.
Perfectly balanced, the Insoglio del Cinghiale 2019 is recognizable by its intense ruby/purple color. On the nose, cherry and blackberry are present, as well as some floral notes. The palate is fleshy and fruity, characteristic of the terroir of the Upper Maremma. The Syrah and its peppery notes are perceptible right through to the finish. The tannins are silky. Insoglio del Cinghiale 2019 being a powerful and vigorous wine, it will be perfect with local dishes, such as wild cinghial wild boar (hence the name of the wine!), roast pheasant or duck.

Das "Wildschwein von Biserno" prägt ein ausgezeichnetes Preis / Leistungsverhältnis. Der Wein ist kräftig und trotzdem kommt er elegant daher. Samedi je suis arrivé lors d'un repas de travail et vendant l'insoglio comme étant un vin d'excpetion rapport qualité prix. Mes collégues amateur de vins m'on dit que c'était un vin plat et qui n'avais aucune strucutre. Déçu et frustré par ces remarques, j'ai alors eu la même impression que eux en le dégustant.
Je précise que je l'avais décanté et bien oxygené.
Je ne recommanderai pas ce millésime à quelqu'un, mais le 2008 avec les yeux fermé.
